Australian census data on languages spoken at home and ancestry shows a growing Kurdish-speaking population, concentrated especially in New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria. Many community members were born in Iraq or Iran, reflecting both refugee resettlement and skilled migration.

Universities in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane support Kurdish and Kurdish-heritage students across health, engineering, IT, and the humanities. SBS and other outlets summarize Australian Bureau of Statistics census releases on Kurdish language and ancestry for public audiences.
